"This place is a joy. I've been coming here for a few years and the food is just stunning. The watermelon sashimi and corn ribs remain a firm favourite, but the scallops are absolutely to die for. The set menus are great, but we went with assorted dishes with some help from our fabulous waitress. We went for our CEO's birthday lunch, and she felt spoilt rotten from start to end. She absolutely loved her sparkler, which was a gorgeous surprise! We were very well looked after from the moment we walked in. The cocktails are made with love, and the service is exceptional. It's seamless and personable, and also reasonably priced. Great for work lunches and date night alike - and won't break the bank."

"Love Kid Kyoto! Such a cool vibe, and the food is seriously amazing! Our standout favourites were the pork belly yakiton, corn ribs, pork cigars and the kingfish sashimi — but honestly, everything we tried was an absolute winner. And a special shout-out to the Yama Yama cocktails… so fresh you can’t stop at just one ;)"

"Honestly, I'm writing this review after I visited Kuro. I just had to write a positive review to balance out the bad experience I had at Kuro. So I visited Kid Kyoto the night before Kuro. Kid Kyoto has great vibe and atmosphere. Some key highlights are Edamame, amazing flavour the charred smell still lingers in my mouth. Corn ribs, I would eat this every day and probably won't get sick of it. So much umami flavour! Angus Scotch although not that juicy, but our guest wanted medium so not fault of restaurant. The sauce was delicious, I would love to try it on medium rare next time. Egg plant, I'm not a vegetable person but I finished the whole thing! Pork cigar has a south east Asia flavour, very nice! I would definitely come back again and try the rest of the menu, plus desserts."

"We were a big party of about 20 with the set menu option & it was amazing! Staff were so attentive & accommodating. They explained each dish, & every dish was outstanding. As a vegetarian they took my food preference seriously as well as my quite serious allergies. When there are so many people you worry about allergies being forgotten but they were so on top of it & staff even learnt my name to make sure I got the right dish. My favourite dish was the watermelon sashimi absolutely delicious. All dishes were 9/10-10/10!"

"✨ Dinner at Kid Kyoto (Sydney) Moody izakaya vibes with loud music, dim lights, and fun twists on Japanese plates. Definitely a spot for those who like a buzzy atmosphere. Here’s my dish ranking (fav → least): 1️⃣ Pork belly yakiton – juicy, tangy, and the karashi mayo tied everything together perfectly. 2️⃣ Wakame-cured ocean trout – fresh and zesty. 3️⃣ Salt & pepper tofu – crispy outside, soft inside. The sambal dip was addictive. 4️⃣ Beef tataki – tender beef with balanced flavours. 5️⃣ Charred edamame – smoky, salty, and hard to stop snacking on. 6️⃣ Corn ribs – sauce felt pretty overpowering and the sauce wasn’t spread over the corn, instead it was on the back of the corn. 7️⃣ Angus scotch – flavour was okay but the meat could’ve been more tender. Liked the Café de Kyoto butter though. 8️⃣ Scallops & potato mochi – concept was interesting but overall bland, needed a sauce to pull it together. 🍰Desserts -Tiramiso, miso dulce de leche – lovely balance of sweetness + saltiness, well executed. -Matcha cremeux, honeycomb ice cream – far too sweet; could use some bitterness or acidity to balance. 🍸 Drinks -Lychee Murasaki – strong lychee flavour, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. -Hayashi Highball – light, fresh, and citrusy. ⭐️ Overall Ambience: 9/10 Hospitality: 7/10 (service could be sharper and more attentive) Food: 7/10 Drinks: 10/10 Value: 7/10"
