"BEWARE OF BKM We were a commercial tenant with BKM Management and unfortunately our overall experience — especially during our early lease termination and move-out — was very disappointing. Before ending our lease early, we told management that we were willing to cooperate if another business wanted to take over our space. Our goal was to help minimize disruption and make the transition easier for everyone. Later, we learned from a neighboring tenant that she had inquired about expanding into our suite but was told we were not interested. She ultimately relocated to another building within the portfolio and later expressed regret after discovering it was next to a cannabis manufacturing tenant, which she felt was not a good fit for her children’s clothing and photography business. During move-out, we also had a verbal understanding with a former property manager that our full security deposit would be retained to cover final charges. After management changes, additional fees were pursued — including utility charges after we had already shut off service and signage-related costs — and despite multiple attempts to resolve things professionally, we were ultimately pressured with collection threats and paid the balance just to close the matter. My advice to prospective tenants: make sure every agreement is documented in writing, clarify all move-out expectations in advance, and ask detailed questions about neighboring tenants and building uses. The physical space may work for some businesses, but our experience with management and communication left a lot to be desired."
