"Had my surgery at Epworth Hawthorn yesterday and the staff and nurses were so caring and considerate. Thank you so much for the great service - it made going through my first big surgery such a great experience."
"I spent 2 months in the Epworth. Whilst there I celebrated 🍾 my birthday. Each and everyone on level 3 wished me well. I have the utmost respect for each and everyone on that level. Upon leaving I received a short note of well wishes 🙏. I am posting this message in the hope that someone will pass this message onto level 3. I sincerely miss them 😢 😔 😪."
"I will preface this by saying that a had a positive experience with most of the staff at hospital. Prior to the operation I made the medical team aware of my plans post operation in my recovery. Post operation I had a conversation with my surgeon about this who gave me advice based on his experience and medical knowledge being a practicing physician. He advised against my plans and while I did not agree, I listened to him and took his words on board. However, one of the other nurses (Phyllis) had her own opinion on the matter and delivered it to me in a rude, patronising and sanctimonious, displaying absolutely no care for my well-being or circumstance, rather wanting to merely convey that she was right. She lectured me in an insulting way before and after I spoke to my actual doctor who has the appropriate knowledge and perspective on the matter through his experience and study of medicine, all things that she does not possess or have the right to preach to me on. When my mother came to pick me up, Phyllis had a private conversation with her and was incredibly rude and demeaning, another thing she had absolutely no right to do. I have the utmost respect for the nursing profession and believe it is one of society’s most important jobs, however the unprofessionalism displayed by Phyllis during my visit was completely unacceptable. The way in which she treated and spoke to me and my mother immediately after waking up from a general anaesthetic was disgusting, unlike my doctor who incidentally held the same opinion on the matter as her, except he calmly explained the risks and scenarios while respecting my decision. Phyllis had absolutely no right to say what she did, not least in the tone or manner that she did."
