"I have been a commercial customer of FortisBC for over 15 years, with an average monthly gas usage of approximately $2,000. Unfortunately, my recent experience with their customer service has been very disappointing. Lately, I have been receiving calls before my payment due date, with voicemail reminders about upcoming payments. When I asked one of their representatives why they were contacting me before the due date, I was told they assumed I might want to pay early. I found this explanation unreasonable and unnecessary. On the other hand, if a payment is missed, they immediately issue a disconnection notice threatening to cut off gas service. The overall approach feels aggressive and overly pressuring, especially toward a long-term commercial customer with a solid payment history. The tone and frequency of communication come across as harassment rather than customer service. If there were a viable alternative utility provider, I would seriously consider switching."
"Parking is a scam. Parked at 7 pm; Wanted to drive out at 9 am. Charge was 46 CAD despite the price list outside saying 23 CAD per day. Luckily car was an enterprise rental so just threw the ticket into the bin, returned the car and took an uber instead :-) be careful if parking your own tho!!!"
"Lower mainland BEWARE fortis bc and their randomly showing up, they showed up at our house to work on construction across the street, with no notice in the middle of the day, they carelessly decided to lean signs on our vehicles as a pathetic shield for paint and concrete cutting, and when a complaint was made, they only cared about if we could move our cars the next day. This is how fortis treats the publics property when they believe no one is watching"
"called to report gas smell, nobody came for two hours. customer service line is closed now because they took too long. called to see how long it would take after half an hour, was told to wait 20 to an hour. Nobody ended up coming and thankfully the smell went away but these guys suck."
"FortisBC’s customer service and billing system are absolutely terrible. Dealing with them has been one of the most frustrating and time-consuming experiences I’ve ever had with a utility company. Their payment system is rigid, outdated, and completely inflexible. Even minor deviations from a payment arrangement result in automatic cancellations—without clear communication or warning—forcing customers to constantly follow up and restart the process. Instead of providing reasonable solutions, they penalize you with additional fees and make it nearly impossible to resolve issues efficiently. On top of that, their customer service is unhelpful and dismissive. It’s clear that FortisBC does not prioritize customer care or transparency."
