"The administration of Lyceum 1, teachers and students are sincerely grateful to the Art and Theater Arts Club 'Theatre in Front of the Microphone' of the S. Bandera Center for Patriotic Education of Student Youth and to the director Natalia Tikhonova for the performance 'The Land of the Serious' based on the play by Marina Smilyanets. The audience was delighted to visit the Land of the Serious, where it is forbidden by law to play, have fun, listen to fairy tales and, most importantly, to dream. In this "Land of the Serious" live heroes who obediently obey the rules until the day the Storyteller-Magician appears, who unfolds the event: the heroes begin to realize that dreaming is not only a right, but also a force capable of change. We really liked the idea, dynamics and genre of the performance, as well as the scenography and costumes of the young actors. The instructive moment of the performance is not intrusive, but present. The children saw that strict rules (“don’t play”, “don’t dream”) are not the norm, and courage, friendship, and imagination matter. The young performers were skilled in their acting. The moments when they skillfully communicated with the audience and led the children to express their thoughts about dreams were especially impressive. “The Land of Serious People” is a beautiful and relevant children’s performance that is not only entertaining, but also educational. Friendly staff, interesting exhibits, later I was approached by an employee (historian) Myroslav Nahirny, who conducted an excursion to the times of the OUN and UPA, told me many interesting and unknown facts, after which we had a conversation about the past and present of Ukraine.
